Learning Objectives

The goal of this workshop is for participants to build skills in order to help groups advocate for change. At the end of the workshop, participants will build skills, including

  • Identifying advocacy roles, organizations, and resources

  • Understanding advocacy steps, strategies, and tips

  • Anticipating possible advocacy barriers, bias, and potential bullies

  • Recognizing the unique perspective and role for lived experience

  • Reviewing Key Civic Leadership Competencies

  • Learning the stages of Public Will Building to help mobilize community advocacy

Natalie Portman-Marsh

Natalie started as a clinical social worker and moved into macro following the Columbine School shooting. Currently, Natalie works with local and National Foundations, coalitions and Associations to support community-led change. The experience Natalie brings to training sessions includes:
